The Długołęka Municipality is
the largest administrative unit of the Wrocław
County and one of the largest municipalities in
the country that experiences steady and dynamic
economic growth.
Excellent geographic location and quality transportation
network are conducive to the development of the
municipality, which is one of Polish leaders in
terms of investment opportunities. The Wrocław
- Oleśnica railroad line and no. 8 Wrocław-Warszawa
national road, along which several reputed companies
have built their seats, run through the municipality.
In the near future, motorway beltway for the City
of Wrocław and the Bielany - Łany - Długołęka
provincial road will be included in the local
transportation network.

In 2007, Długołęka was awarded the Fair Play
Municipality Certificate, which is a distinction
granted to investor-friendly local administration
units.
Moreover, the municipality has obtained several
awards and honorable mentions in competitions
including the Lower Silesia Key to Success, in
which in 2004 it was awarded the title of the
most thrifty rural municipality; a Diploma for
a municipality with outstanding results in preventing
and solving alcohol-related problems; an honorable
mention in the first stage of the 2005 Transparent
Poland and in the second stage of the 2006 competition.
Last, but not least, the municipality has been
successful in several ratings, such as the 2006
ranking of the municipalities in the Lower Silesia
Region, which was organized by Słowo Polskie Gazeta
Wrocławska daily; the Silver Hundred of Local
Government in the year 2002; the rating of the
best municipalities in terms of investments in
local development in the years 2001-2003; and
the Golden Hundred of Local Government in the
years 2003, 2004 and 2007. What is more, Iwona
Agnieszka Łebek, the Administrator of the Municipality,
thanks to her outstanding achievements and work
on behalf of the municipality, has been a finalist
of the competition for the Municipality Administrator
of the Year 2004, 2005 and 2006.
The Długołęka Municipality boasts a long history
and throughout the ages has played a significant
role in the Lower Silesia Region. This is best
reflected by numerous historic sights. The history
of the region dates back to the 12th c. Fragments
of a historic palace and park complex, which used
to be a summer seat of royal families called Sybillenrot,
can be found in Szczodre. Other historic sights
include churches originating in the 15th, 16th
and 17th c. situated in Długołęka, Brzezia Łąka,
Byków and Domasz-czyna, as well as numerous palaces,
manor houses, parks and cemeteries.
Natural and climatic attributes, excellent geographic
location, transportation accessibility and numerous
recreation spots make the Długołęka Municipality
an attractive tourist spot and a venue of choice
for people who have decided to settle down outside
the city. The municipality features several picturesque
parks, bodies of water and forests abundant with
fauna. Situated in immediate proximity of the
City of Wrocław, it offers numerous cycling routes,
tourist trails and excellent horse studs. Featuring
9 horse-riding centers, Długołęka is a horse-riding
capital of the county, where several Poland-wide
events related to horse breeding and horse-riding
are held.
Each year, whole families of fans of playing and
feasting attend local outdoor events, such as
Festival of the Długołęka Municipality, where
top Polish celebrities perform.
On the initiative of the municipality administrator,
several actions and programs aimed at the integration
of local communities, such as To make one dream
come true, a program addressed to the disabled
residents of the municipality and a series of
meetings with the elders, have been implemented.
