Every person travelling along the Wrocław-Poznań and Zielona Góra-Kalisz routes should not miss the chance to visit Rawicz. The city is the capital of a
municipality with a population of 30 thousand and a county with 60 thousand residents. The city, located in the south-west corner of the Wielkopolska region, was founded in 17th c. King Władysław IV himself was one of
its founders, and through the years the city has managed to preserve its own unique atmosphere. Modern Rawicz offers many attractions to every visitor. Historically, the city was carefully planned on a «raw root»
plan that developed rapidly. It was given a regular shape, a street network was designed and the town center was surrounded by fortifications. In the mid-19th c. when its defensive walls were torn down, green areas were
created. The «planty» green area that surround the town has survived to the modern times. It is now one of major attractions of Rawicz, and has often been compared to the famous planty in Kraków. Obviously, Rawicz is
famous not only for its planty. A baroque and Rococo style town hall built in 1753-56, a classicist style church designed in early 19th c. by G. Langsans, the designer of the Brandenburg Gate, and the Parish church
built in a neo-gothic style are among its other tourist attractions. The diversity of the city structures originates from the fact that Rawicz was once located in close proximity to the Polish border and has been
inhabited by people of various religions and cultures. During the counter-reformation period followers of heretical sects from Germany and the Czech Republic found shelter here This year, city authorities have
undertaken a venture to place the town plan of Rawicz, which is unique in Poland and one of the few of its type in Europe, on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage sites.

Modern Rawicz is not only a major transportation junction, where international rail and road links cross, but also an important agricultural and
industrial center. The city is developing rapidly. Work on two programs for the development of the municipality: the «Strategy of balanced development» and the «Study of conditions and directions for spatial
development» are under way. The programs are designed to establish long-term premises and directions for further expansion of the city in terms of its social, economic and spatial development. Rawicz's ample
communal and technical infrastructure - communications, transportation, sewage and gas networks, water treatment plant and a transportation potential create perfect conditions for development in every sphere of economic
activity. The city is also open to new initiatives and proposals from local and foreign businesses, regarding development of industry, crafts, trade and tourism. Investments in food processing based on local raw
materials, electronics and precise industry, as well as the development of hotel and restaurant services are especially welcome. In addition, the city offers attractive sites (close to an express way to be built in
the future) for sale at very favorable prices, and tax allowances and abatements. A number of open and developed properties has been prepared for sale for investors. A well-educated and experienced work force is also at
their disposal, and several large banks, insurance societies and consulting companies operate in Rawicz. Investors will find professional partners among the local Society of Merchants, «Dialog» Economic Society and
the Society for the Economic Development of the Rawicz Region. Some investors have already placed trust in the above-mentioned institutions. In addition, local paper works have been bought by the French «Rossmann»
group and renamed «Rawibox». In April, an assembly line for electric automotive wiring was opened at a new factory. The Japanese Sumitomo Electronic Wiring System, the second world largest supplier of components for
the automotive industry, carried out the investment. Rawicz is an open city well worth a visit. |
