The Zakłady Zielarskie 'Herbapol' company in Poznań is a prominent manufacturer of pharmaceuticals based on natural herbs on the Wielkopol-ska and Polish
market. In the 30-years of its history, the company has undergone various changes. Following restructuring of the Polish herb industry in 1961, it chose a new developmental path, which it has followed to this
day. The company's prime, though, commenced in the late 80-ies. It was then that the first major modernization of old manufacturing halls and machinery fleet was conducted. Following privatization in 1995,
modernization has been continued and directed at the introduction of a system ensuring the highest quality production possible, which is in line with the requirements of the Good Manufacturing Practices. The
Ministry of Health and Social Services has also awarded the company with a license for manufacturing pharmaceuticals. Herbapol is equipped with state of the art apparatus and equipment and modern test laboratories.
Herbal medicines manufactured by Herbapol have a well-established position on the Polish market and successfully compete with foreign products. The majority of its pharmaceutical output is manufactured based on the
company's tested raw materials. Herbapol in Poznań, which is the largest Herbapol Company, obtains herbs from natural cultivation and harvested via its purchase network established in the ecologically cleanest regions
of Poland.
Only a small percentage of plant raw materials is imported, mainly leaves of the kinnikinnick (bearberry) and cowberry, licorice root and cowslip, and
extracts of African plum bark. The company is not only a manufacturer of herbs and herbal medicines, but also of a wide array of aromas, which are used as flavorings in the food industry. The Zakłady Zielarskie
Herbapol S.A. today is an employer of several hundred workers, a major supplier of natural medicines and a modern company successfully operating in the free market economy.
