U nas mało się mówi, ale robi dużo i szybko-ten komentarz prezydenta Zabrza, Romana Urbańczyka, dotyczący realizacji przez PKP i szefów holenderskiej firmy ING Real Estate projektu budowy nowoczesnego dworca kolejowego i kompleksowego zagospodarowania terenów z nim sąsiadujących można odnieść do wszystkich inwestycji w tym mieście. Ono z dnia na dzień, z roku na rok zmienia swoje oblicze...
Nowoczesny dworzec oraz budowa wielkiego kompleksu łączącego komunikację między dwoma częściami miasta z funkcjami handlowo-usługowymi i... rozrywkowymi to jedna z wielu inwestycji w Zabrzu. Jedne pozostają w sferze planów, inne są realizowane Ľdotyczących strategii rozwoju miasta i kierunków zagospodarowania przestrzennego. Chodzi przede wszystkim o harmonijny rozwój miasta w perspektywie najbliższych dekad.
Za najpilniejsze i najbardziej sprzyjające

 

rozwojowi gospodarczemu miasta uznano inwestycje o charakterze komunikacyjnym. Dobra komunikacja posłuży nie tylko mieszkańcom, ale także (a może-przede wszystkim) udostępni nowe tereny pod inwestycje i, zmieniając pejzaż miasta, uczyni go urbanistycznie i architektonicznie atrakcyjniejszym.
Zmodernizowana, unowocześnione komunikacja w mieście, jak i poza nim ma z Zabrza uczynić miasto bardziej atrakcyjne, już nie kojarzące się tylko z węglem i stalą. W  strategii dla miasta niebagatelne znaczenie ma więc też rozwój usług medycznych i edukacyjnych. Być może dzięki Akademickiemu Centrum Medycznemu miasto stanie się "zagłębiem leczniczym".
Strategia przewiduje także rozwój funkcjonujących już w Zabrzu uczelni i powstawanie nowych. A jeśli będzie gdzie się uczyć, gdzie pracować i gdzie szukać pomocy medycznej, to powinno wzrosnąć zapotrzebowanie na rozwój budownictwa mieszkaniowego, rozmaite usługi (za czym idzie rozwój firm i przedsiębiorstw) i wreszcie-powinno wzrosnąć zainteresowanie potencjałem kulturalnym Zabrza

Shaping the Future

In our city, little is said, but much is done at a fast pace, said Roman Urbańczyk, mayor of Zabrze, commenting on the implementation of the Ťplans for construction of a modern railway station and comprehensive development of its vicinityť carried out by Polish Rail and the Dutch ING Real Estate Company. This statement is true about all investments conducted in the city. From day to day, Zabrze is changing its image.
The modern railway station and construction of a large commercial complex, combining the transportation services that link the two parts of the city with shopping and entertainment is one of the many investments carried out in Zabrze. Some of these are still in the design phase, while others are being carried out, but all of them result from carrying out the program related to the city's development strategy and guidelines for zoning plans in the city. The common goal of these activities is sustainable development of the city over the next few decades.
Investments in the transportation system have been regarded as the most urgent and conducive to further economic development of the city. An effective transportation system will serve not only city residents, but also (or maybe most of all) will make new investment sites accessible, and by changing the city landscape will make Zabrze a more attractive place in terms of urban and architectural planning.
A modern transportation system in the city and its environs will help to make Zabrze an attractive place that is no longer associated only with steel and coal. In addition, city development

strategy emphasizes the growth of educational and medical services. This will make it possible for the Academic Medical Center Zabrze to become a distinguished medical center.
The strategy also provides for expansion of existing schools of higher education and establishment of new institutions. When Zabrze becomes a place where one can obtain education, find employment and use medical services, the demand for housing construction and other services (and further more expansion of various businesses and enterprises) will grow, and as a result, interest in the cultural potential of Zabrze will be stimulated.
