Prężne ciało i duch wrażliwy

Dziś ponownie wracamy do Jarosławia. Poprzednio, w styczniowym numerze "Panoramy", przedstawiliśmy w ogólnym zarysie jego historię, zabytki i gospodarkę współczesną, okazało się jednak, iż to nieco ponad 40-tysięczne miasto jest zbyt ciekawe, by na tym poprzestać.
Miasto, jak już wiemy, jest bardzo stare. Jego historia sięga XII w., a prawa miejskie nadano mu 1ł75 r. Przez kilkaset lat Jarosław był miastem prywatnym, dziedziczonym

przez kolejne rody magnackie. Był też Jarosław miastem bogatym tak w sensie materialnym, jak i kulturowym. Z jednej  bowiem strony leżał on na skrzyżowaniu ważnych szlaków handlowych, a na tutejsze jarmarki zjeżdżali kupcy z całej ówczesnej Europy. Z drugiej-miasto posiadało liczne przywileje, co sprzyjało dostatkowi miejscowej ludności. Bogactwo zaś rozwoju kulturowego bra ło się m.in. z wielowiekowej symbiozy trzech wielkich religii: kościoła greko- i rzymskokatolickiego oraz judaizmu, co znalazło swój wyraz choćby w miejskiej architekturze. Wrażenie robią też dawne zabudowania obronne, udostępnione do zwiedzania podziemia czy autentyczna perełka budowlana-                XVI-wieczna kamienica Orsettich przy

rynku, mieszcząca dziś miejskie muzeum.
 Jednak dzisiejszy Jarosław to przede wszystkim ważny ośrodek gospodarczy i oświatowy na Podkarpaciu, o znaczeniu regionalnym. Jego i tak dużą atrakcyjność powiększa doskonała lokalizacja tuż przy szosie E-40 Zgorzelec-Medyka i planowana budowa autostrady A-4, a także niedawno uruchomione, nowoczesne przejście graniczne w Korczowej. Doceniają te walory inwestorzy. Z powodzeniem, przy udziale kapitału amerykańskiego i francuskiego, sprywatyzowano już tutejszą Hutę Szkła "Jarosław", Zakłady Przemysłu Cukierniczego "San". Niebawem Brytyjczycy zbudują tu nowoczesną elektrownię gazową. Na terenie miasta działa prawie 5,5 tys. firm, z czego aż 58 % to kapitał prywatny.
 Potencjał oświatowy miasta to ok. ł0 szkół wszystkich stopni, które zapewniają inwestorom stały dopływ wykwalifikowanych kadr i pracowników.
Na inwestorów czekają atrakcyjne tereny budowlane, wolne obiekty produkcyjne i administracyjne, pełna infrastruktura oraz kompleksowa sieć łączności. Ale, poza gospodarką, jest też w Jarosławiu wiele rzeczy i dla ducha. Co roku w styczniu organizowany jest Jarmark Kolęd i Pastorałek, w czerwcu Festiwal Słowiańskich Zespołów Folklorystycznych oraz Przegląd teatrów Ulicznych, w lipcu zaś Festiwal Muzyki Country.
 Najsłynniejszy jest jednak z pewnością organizowany już od 8 lat sierpniowy Festiwal Muzyki Dawnej "Pieśń Naszych Korzeni". Przez cały tydzień muzycy mają bezpośredni kontakt z mieszkańcami. Program jest wypełniony najrozmaitszymi formami artystycznymi, i to ma swój symboliczny klimat. Na festiwal przyjeżdżają najlepsze zespoły europejskie, a sama impreza jest doskonałą okazją do spotkań, wymiany doświadczeń i wzajemnego poznania się. Impreza jest dobrze znana poza granicami kraju-we Francji, Włoszech, Szwajcarii i Wielkiej Brytanii. Patronują jej m.in. ambasadorowie Francji, Włoch i Grecji.  W tym roku wystąpią takie sławy, jak Cunfraterna di a pieve di a Serra z Korsyki, którą poprowadzi francuski śpiewak i muzykolog Marcel Peres, Sequentia z Kolonii, La Reverdie z Wenecji, a na finał 26 sierpnia zagra jedna z najsławniejszych orkiestr barokowych świata-prowadzona przez skrzypka Sigiswalda Kuijkena-La Petite Bande z Brukseli, która wykona Wielką Mszę h-moll J.S. Bacha. Podczas festiwali zostanie uruchominy specjalny serwis informacyjny na stronie internetowej miasta www.jaroslaw.pl relacjonujący festiwalowe wydarzenia dzień po dniu. Także w sierpniu organizowany jest Festiwal Poezji Śpiewanej, a kto dotrwa do grudnia, ten ma szansę wziąć udział w Jarmarku św. Jędrzeja.
 Jest więc Jarosław miastem, w którym ciągle coś się dzieje, tak w sensie ekonomicznym, jak i duchowym. Jest miastem otwartym dla każdego.

Robust Body and
Sensitive Soul

Let us return to Jarosław. In the January issue of Panorama we presented an outline of its history, sights, and economy, yet the city with a population of around 40 thousand has far more to offer.
 As you already know, Jarosław is a very old city. Its history dates back to the 12th c. and it was granted a town charter in 1ł75. For hundreds of years Jarosław was a private city, inherited by subsequent magnate houses. It has been a wealthy town, both in terms of economy and culture.
 On one hand, it was located at the crossings of major trade routes and vendors from all over Europe arrived to participate in local fairs. On the other hand, it was granted numerous privileges, which contributed to the growing affluence of

local residents.
Cultural wealth, however, originated from the long established symbiosis of three major religions that coexisted in the city: Greek and Roman Catholic Church and Judaism, which was reflected in local architecture. The old city fortifications and undergrounds, which are opened for sightseeing, are very impressive. In the old market, there is a true architectural gem, the Orsetti family's tenement house built in the 16th c., which houses the city museum.
 Today's Jarosław, however, is first of all an important economic and educational center of the Podkarpacie region. Excellent location on the E-40 Zgorzelec- Medyka route, the planned construction of the A-4 express way and the modern border point recently opened in Korczowa have augmented its attractiveness. Investors have appreciated these assets. The local ŤJarosławť Glassworks and Zakłady Przemysłu Cukierniczego ŤSanť (a confectionery) have been successfully privatized with the assistance of American and French capital. Soon, a British investor will construct a modern gas power plant here. In all, almost 5500 businesses operate in the city, 58% of which are privately owned.
 The educational potential of the city is reflected in the ł0 schools of all levels of education that ensure constant influx of well-trained workers. In addition, attractive investment sites, manufacturing and administration facilities, comprehensive infrastructure and telecommunications network have been prepared for investors.
 Apart from the economy, Jarosław has a rich cultural offer. The Jarmark Kolęd i Pastorałek (Carol and Christmas Song Festival) is held here every January. The Slavic Folk Festival and Street Theater Festival are staged here every June and The Country Music Festival is celebrated in July.
The most prominent event, however, is the PieĽRoots) International Festival of Early Music Festival, which has been organized every August for the past eight years. For

a week, musicians come into the direct contact with the residents. The program encompasses diversion of music forms, which creates its unique atmosphere. The festival is attended by the best groups from all over Europe. The event is an excellent opportunity for meetings, exchange of experiences and establishing new contacts. It is famous not only in Poland, but also in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Great Britain. The ambassadors of France, Italy and Greece have assumed honorary patronage over the event. This year the festival will host such celebrities as the Cunfraterna di a pieve di a Serra from Corsica led by Marcel Peres, a French singer and musicologist, the Sequentia
group from Cologne and La Reverdie from Venice. The final performance of the h-moll Grand Mass by J. S. Bach will be given on August 26by La Petite Bande from Brussels, one of the world famous Baroque music orchestras led by Sigiswald Kuijken, a famous violinist. During the festival, a special information service will be run on the city web site www.jaroslaw.pl and inform about the festival events.
 The Festival of Poetry Singing is also held in August and if you make it till December, you can participate in St. Andrew's Fair.
 Jarosław is a buoyant city both in economic and cultural sense. It is a city open to all.
