Łódzki Zakład Energetyczny S. A. |

The Region's Guardian of Energy is a large and dynamic company, even though it only serves the Łódź area, supplying electrical power to more than 510
thousand people. ŁZE is strongly tied to Łódź and the surrounding region. For over a year, lawyer Marek Błaszkowski has stood at the head of the board of ŁZE. Panorama Polskich Miast asked the
President of ŁZE to grant us an interview. Mr. President, what does the łódzki Zakład Energetyczny S.A. do to work on behalf of the region? The region in which ŁZE operates is an area in particular
need of investment. For this reason, we are prepared to work with any company and to offer terms that are convenient for it. I talk with each major investor personally, and I oversee the progress of any work
that is contracted. An example of this would be our work with the Łódź Special Enterprise Zone. We invite all investors to come to Łódź who are having problems anywhere with acquiring terms for hookup to the
power grid. Here at ŁZE S.A., there are never any such problems. Besides purely business activities, what else ties ŁZE S.A. to the region? Our activities on behalf of the region touch many areas. We
are sponsors of one of the most important and one of the largest cultural institutions in Poland, Teatr Wielki in Łódź. We have also sponsored ceremonies in which the film school bestowed the title of doctor
honoris causa upon Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański, Jerzy Wojciech Hass, and Jerzy Kawalerowicz. We also helped with an unusual undertaking, the erecting of a monument to a great former citizen of Łódź, Arther
Rubenstein. The event was especially unusual because the monument is in the shape of a piano and anybody walking by can sit down in front of it. We also hope that our help will make it possible to rescue our
first division team, the Łódź Speedway Association. For years, we have acted as benefactors for the Orphanage in Grotniki. We also help children suffering from asthma and allergies, as well as schools for
children with visual impairments. To the extent possible, we give money to other charities, such as the Łódź Children's Hospice. Also, there are too many cases in Poland of accidents caused by improper use
of electric power. The victims in these tragedies are often children. We have therefore developed a special program called "Safe Energy" for students in primary schools. A pilot program is
presently being carried out in several schools.. |
