Malbork is a county seat with a long history, dating back to 1276. Each year, 500,000 tourists visit this city with a population of forty thousand. The brick castle built on the Nogat River bank is the major attraction drawing visitors to the city. In 1994, the stronghold was proclaimed a historic monument, and in 1997, it was entered onto the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage.

In Malbork, the summer season is inaugurated with the Malbork Festival, when the city for two days turns into a medieval settlement during the 1410 Malbork Siege event. This year, the event will consist of an artistic performance presenting a continuation of the famous 1410 Battle of Grunwald. Knights and craftsmen will arrive in the city and knights' tournaments will be organized in the castle moat. The County Festival in September will mark the end of the summer season this year.
