Jarmark, targi, teatry świata i Święto Miasta

W czerwcu poznański kalendarz kulturalny jest szczególnie wypełniony. Już 16 wokół Ratusza rozłożą swoje "skarby" kolekcjonerzy i zbieracze, biorący udział w kolejnych, znanych w kraju i świecie, Targach Staroci. Trzy dni później klucze do miasta zostaną przekazane rzemieślnikom i kupcom - w ten sposób 19 czerwca rozpocznie się 26. Jarmark Świętojański. Ubiegłoroczny był "festynem europejskim", tegoroczny ma nawiązywać do pradawnej tradycji i zbliżającego się 750-lecia lokacji miasta. Uciechy będzie co niemiara: kuglarze i teatrzyki kukiełkowe, wojowie i muzyka folkowa, warsztaty rytmów poprowadzi sam mistrz Zbigniew Łowżył. Co potrafią - pokażą rzemieślnicy, a ich rękodzieła będzie można kupić. Z kolei gastronomowie zaproszą do kuchni staropolskiej.

 26. Jarmark Świętojański potrwa do 24 czerwca, jak zawsze równolegle z Międzynarodowymi Targami Poznańskimi, które - jako instytucja - obchodzą swoje 80-lecie. Czerwcowa impreza wystawienniczo-handlowa, czyli 73. Targi Technologii Przemysłowych i Dóbr Inwestycyjnych, jak co roku będą gościć kilkaset firm reprezentujących kilkadziesiąt państw.
 Kilka ostatnich dni czerwca w kulturalnym kalendarzu Poznania jest w tym roku zarezerwowane dla Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Teatralnego Malta (26-30 czerwca). Po raz jedenasty do Poznania przyjadą teatry alternatywne z całego świata, aby wyst ąpić nad Jeziorem Maltańskim, na ulicach i placach miasta. Festiwal Malta doskonale promuje Poznań, który zmienia się w wielką scenę plenerową, ściągającą dziesiątki tysięcy widzów. Francuskie spektakle "Peplum" i "Taxi", hiszpańskie "Demony", "Statek Latarnia" zespołu Generik Vapeur, działania Teatru Biuro Podróży czy Strefy Ciszy przeszły już do historii. Koncerty Bregovicia, Leningrad Cowboys czy Buena Vista Social Club pamiętamy wszyscy; teraz historii Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Teatralnego Malta ciąg dalszyĽ
 Uwieńczeniem czerwcowych wydarzeń w Poznaniu będzie Święto Miasta. W dniu imienin patronów miasta - świętych Piotra i Pawła, czyli 29 czerwca, odbędzie się uroczysta sesja rajców miejskich, a po południu przed Areną koncert dla mieszkańców i gości: zapowiedziana jest artystyczna niespodzianka i występ nagrodzonej statuetką Fryderyk 2000 "Arki Noego".
 Mimo tak wielu atrakcji i radosnych wydarzeń ten rozpoczynający lato miesiąc jest też okresem refleksji, pamięci o pierwszym w Polsce proteście robotników przeciwko rządom komunistycznym, który miał miejsce 28 czerwca 1956 roku.
 Tak więc czerwiec to czas niezwykły i warto wtedy Poznań odwiedzić.

outdoor festivities, a trade fair, theatres of the world and the City Festival

The cultural calendar of Poznań in June features an exceptional number of events. The collectors taking part in the Antiques Fair renowned both at home and abroad will already be setting out their 'treasures' all around the Town Hall from June 16th.  Three days later the craftsmen and merchants will be handed the keys to the city, marking the beginning of the 26th St John's Fair (Jarmark Świętojański). Last year's fair was declared a 'European Festival', this year's event is to reflect the ancient tradition and the forthcoming 750th anniversary of the city's foundation. The visitors can look forward to lots of fun: jugglers and puppets, knights, folk music, and a rhythm workshop run by the master Zbigniew Łowżył himself. The craftsmen will show off their skills and sell their handicrafts. The chefs will, in turn, prepare the traditional Old Polish cuisine.
  The 26th St John's Fair will last until June 24th, traditionally taking place parallel to the Poznań International Fair, which this year celebrates its 80th anniversary as an institution. The 73rd Industrial Technologies and Investment Goods fair will host hundreds of companies representing a few dozen countries.
 The last days of June on Poznań's cultural agenda are this year allocated to the MALTA International Theatre Festival (26th-30th June). For the 11th time Poznań will play host to alternative theatres from all over the world arriving in Poznań to perform at Lake Malta, as well as in the streets and squares of the city. The MALTA Festival is an excellent way of promoting Poznań, which turns the city into one huge outdoor stage, attracting tens of thousands of theatre goers. The French performances 'Peplum' and 'Taxi', the Spanish 'Demons', 'The Lighthouse Ship' by Generic Vapeur, and performances staged by Polish theatre groups such as Teatr Biuro Podróży or Strefa Ciszy have already gone down in history. We all remember the concerts by Bregovic, Leningrad Cowboys or Buena Vista Social Club, now the history of the MALTA International Theatre Festival continues...

The June events will be concluded by the City Festival. On June 29th, the name-day of the city's patron saints - St Peter and St Paul, the city councillors will hold a special session, while in the afternoon the inhabitants and visitors are invited to a concert in front of Arena: the performers on the bill include not only a surprise guest, but also 'Arka Noego', the winners of Fryderyk 2000, the Polish equivalent of the Grammies.
 Although filled with so many attractive and joyful events, this first summer month is also a time to reflect and remember the first Polish workers' protest against communist rule which took place on 28th of June 1956.
 Thus it is worth visiting Poznań in June - at this extraordinary time...
