Invest in Radomsko

Panorama talks with Jerzy M. Słowiński, M.A., Mayor of Radomsko

- Radomsko is a city of 50,000 located in the Łódzkie Province that has a splendid past and culture.
- In 1266, Prince Leszek Czarny granted Radomsko a town charter. Since the very beginning, the town has been an important center, which is best proved by the fact that in 1382 and 1384 two conventions of nobles were held, during which the future of the Polish throne was decided after the death of king Louis of the Angevin. It was also in Radomsko that the decision was made that his 11-year old daughter Jadwiga (Hedvig) would succeed the king and marry Prince Jagiello of Lithuania, which later constituted the basis for the Polish-Lithuanian Union. Due to this fact, Queen Jadwiga became a Patron Saint of Radomsko in 1998.
- What are the major attributes of Radomsko?
- Undoubtedly, the location in the center of Poland is such a feature.  Radomsko is located 190-km from Warsaw, 90-km from Łódź and 105-km from Katowice. Its favorable location within the road system is also of importance. A rail line linking the Silesia region with Łódź and Warsaw runs through the town, and the Katowice - Warsaw express way and Wrocław - Kielce route cross there, as well. It should be emphasized that the express way will constitute a part of the North-South freeway currently being built and an exit ramp will be built in Radomsko. The close vicinity of Częstochowa (38-km) is conducive to setting up accommodation facilities for the millions of tourists and pilgrims who visit the Częstochowa sanctuary each year. In nearby Gidle (14-km distance), another religious center visited by many pilgrims is located.
Fameg SA, a world famous furniture maker; Metalurgia SA, a manufacturer of nails, wire and wire fences; FON, a driving axle producer, and numerous woodworking shops shape economic landscape of the town. Moreover, the head office of CEFARM, the largest pharmaceutical company in Poland, and a modern plant that manufactures Continental CAN and PET packaging are located in Radomsko. Numerous textile, construction and service companies also operate in the town.
- Why is it worth investing in Radomsko?
- Investors are not looking for sites that are just attractive in terms of geographical features, but for those that meet certain requirements for the invested capital bringing returns. Radomsko has created conditions for achieving this goal in several industrial sectors. Investors will be encouraged by the town's favorable location and its consistently modernized technical infrastructure, which includes a state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant and sanitary sewer system. The city purchased an 80-ha area in the industrial district to offer it to investors. Now, a procedure for unifying plots of land is under way. In Radomsko, we especially welcome investors in manufacturing and service sectors.
Local residents constitute the town's main strength. The population structure makes it easy to find qualified personnel there, both workers and managerial staff with higher education. In addition, several vocational schools, high schools and technical colleges provide educations to students specializing in mechanics, electronics, wood processing, and economics. At a branch campus of Częstochowa Technical University, future computer scientists and specialists in management and marketing are educated.  In addition, the large number of banks in Radomsko is among the town's other strong points. Moreover, the attractive price of land, a part of which is owned by the city, is conducive to placing investments there.

The City Board supports potential investors by providing current information on local manufacturing potential, land and rents. It also provides assistance with essential formalities. In addition, it grants tax allowances to investors who create new jobs. Those who would like not only to work, but also to live there, will find in Radomsko a clean environment, clear water, good schools and nursery schools, attractive places to relax and an interesting cultural offer. The hospitality of its local residents and public safety make Radomsko a perfect place for quiet and comfortable living.
- Thank you for your time.

Crafts in Radomsko
Radomsko is famous for the large number of craft shops operating there. They are associated in a Crafts Guild, which was established in 1957. The history of individual craft guilds dates back to 1946. In 2000, the Crafts Guild in Radomsko included 805 shops operating in the woodworking, motor, construction, metal, leather, textile, and clothing industries. Woodworking shops manufacturing top quality furniture constitute a majority of these in Radomsko.  There, you can order furniture in any style; modern, avant-garde and classic style and even imitations of antics, and you can expect world-class design and workmanship. This is why Radomsko is called the Polish cradle for the furniture and woodworking industries.  The long tradition of the guild is reflected in the old products, numerous diplomas and standards from the early 20th c. exhibited in a hall at the guild's seat.
The Crafts Guild in Radomsko provides business training and support in dealing with legal and other formal issues. It organizes meetings with representatives of the Social Security and Tax Offices, informs about changing regulations, and explains legal procedures for operating on the market. The activities of the guild also include the education of young adepts who gain professional experience and licenses in various crafts there. Moreover, membership in the guild supports integration with craftsmen circles and the possibility of exchanging experiences and acting as a group.
