The Hel Peninsula is a unique on a national scale natural and
landscape attraction and some call it the longest pier in Europe.
Sea currents carrying sand washed away from the seabed formed the
Hel Peninsula. First, in the place of today's peninsula a lagoon
appeared, which gradually emerged from various parts of the sea
in the form of an island chain.
Clean beaches and unique local climate with healing properties resulting
from large amounts of iodine in the air only add to the attractiveness
and beauty of the peninsula. In 1987, because of its unique properties,
the whole of the Hel Peninsula was incorporated into the Seaside
Landscape Park (Nadmorski Park Krajobrazowy).
Two municipalities, Hel and Jastarnia, are located in the narrow
strip of the Hel Peninsula. Hel is one of the oldest settlements
in the Pomerania region. Surrounded by water, with high dunes and
unique flora, as well as forests where deer, wild boars and birds
live, Hel is a perfect holiday spot for the lovers of nature. Strolling
down Wiejska St, you can admire old bolted houses, which are remnants
of Kaszubian architecture from the turn of 19th c. In the former
historic, 15th c. church, the Museum of Fishery is seated. At the
Museum, you can see the only in Poland open-air display of old fishing
boats. Walking down the Seacoast Boulevard you can reach a Marine
Station and seal zoo. In addition, enthusiast of old armor can see
old facilities and fortifications for the WWII period, there. Moreover,
Hel offers a well-developed tourist, trade and catering infrastructure.
A number of cultural, sports and entertainment events are held for
tourists and local residents.

The Jastarnia municipality located in the heart of the Hel Peninsula
is a major spa and fishing center. Three settlements established
in the interwar period are located within the town borders; seaside
resort of Jurata, which this year celebrated 70th anniversary of
its foundation; Kuźnica, an old fishing village; and Jastarnia,
the heart of the municipality.
Tourists are drawn to the Hel Peninsula to sail and windsurf, as
well as to see old monuments and become acquainted with old Kaszubian
culture, which is presented at numerous cultural events, such as
the Jastarnia Festival (Jastarnicko Sobótka), Eel Festval (Dni Węgorza),
and the Kaszubian Festival (Dni Kaszubskie).
Recently, a number of successful investments has been placed in
the region. New sewage treatment plant, water and sewerage network,
as well as a new post office and multifunctional sports hall with
270 seats have been built. In addition, a 5-km long cycling route
leading from Jurata to Jastarnia has been opened. Moreover, a yacht
marina with 650 bays, repair facilities and stores for keeping the
yachts in winter, as well as an AquaPark with recreational facilities,
including a fishing village with balneological facilities and conferences
center are scheduled to be built.
The municipality invites investors to participate in the construction
of a state-of-the-art windsurfing station, the construction of a
hotel to be located in the area including mineral water springs
and Kuźnica Recreational Center, as well as the development of fast
sailing links between the Hel Peninsula and Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot.
Hel, Jastarnia, Jurata and Kuźnica constitute tourist paradise and
an efficient investment policy draws to the region investors for
whom the sun and beach stand not only for recreation, but also business.
