Over 650 years of history has left plenty of absorbing traits
in the culture of Mysłowice, such as the medieval architecture of
the market and the imposing silhouette of the Church of Saint Mary's
Birth, usually referred to as St. Mary's Church. A lot is happening
in the part of Mysłowice called the Old Town. Following the Town
Council resolution "Study of Conditions and Directions for
Planning the Development of Mysłowice", various actions are
being taken aimed at reviving this area of the town. The present
stage based on the restoration of the market and Grunwaldzka Street
which leads to the market, was preceded by archaeological research
which will allow, for instance, the exact locating of the place
where until the mid 19th century the Town Hall was situated. These
works will soon lead to a superb exposition of this historical area
encompassing three locations: Grunwaldzka Street - Wolności Square
- Town Hall.

The history, our interesting past, is one of the attractive aspects
of the "Three Emperors' Triangle" town, referred to by
this name due to the convergence of the Czarna Przemsza and Biała
Przemsza rivers, and of the borders of the three annexed states
in the mid 19th century. However, the town does not live only in
the past. The image of a gray landscape of black coal mining, often
associated with Silesia, is not a true picture of the region but
simply a misconceived stereotype. The "Old Town - Revitalized
by its Greenery" action initiated by the town's residents,
which is in the form of a contest for the building most beautifully
adorned with flowers, coincided with the activities undertaken by
the Town Council aimed at presenting Mysłowice in the context of
its natural attractions.

The appearance of Mysłowice's natural attractions is surprisingly
interesting. The protected nature parks and viewing points are featured
in a publication filled with outstandingly beautiful photographs.
A great variety of natural specimens can also be found in such seemingly
unfriendly places as the power plant's reclaimed ash pond. Over
this area of some 60 ha you can see not only a large amount of pleasing
greenery but also grazing deer. The old quarry reveals dolomite
and lime layers displaying preserved fauna fossils.
Located on the border of Mysłowice neighboring Katowice and Sosnowiec,
there is the "Hubertus" natural pond system. These ponds
are inhabited by numerous species of water birds, including a variety
of protected species.
Mysłowice, an old Silesian town, can then clearly claim that it
is getting younger. It is younger and younger by the year due to
its green nature which we can learn more about thanks to the study
developed by the Town Council and also thanks to the revitalization
of the oldest, historical district.
We would like to invite to Mysłowice both tourists who can admire
the Silesian landscape and entrepreneurs who will find exciting
opportunities to do business here in interesting surroundings.
