Openness, ambition and cooperation

Interview with the mayor of Wrzesnia, Maria Taciak.

wersja polska

- Września's location - by the intersection of the main traffic routes near Poznań - is undisputedly an asset attracting investors. Does the Town offer them any other advantages?
- Speaking of Września's location, it is worth highlighting that the junction of the future A-2 freeway will be located in the area of the municipality.
In order to encourage the investors, a number of rebates and preferences have been introduced in our municipality. Property tax is one of the lowest in the Wielkopolskie voidvodship and it is PLN 13.70/sq.m. for buildings used for business purposes. The facilities for business activities, such as production and services, are exempt from property tax for the period of 3-5 years. In addition, the Town and Municipality Office may pilot the formal and legal activities.
Września also has a well-developed network of banks and the institutions offering legal and administration services. Both the town and the rural areas have all the utilities supplied.

- Wrzesnia's assets are not limited to the technical infrastructure. Its strengths also include education, culture and leisure…
- Within the area of the Września municipality there are 5 kindergartens, 16 primary schools and 4 gymnasiums. Young people can choose from several secondary schools, including: General Lyceum, Dairy School, Agricultural School, and Vocational Schools. There is also Non-Public Post-Lyceum Economic School and the Dairy Education Center.
Culture is promoted in the area of Września town and municipality thanks to the town's Community Center. It performs its tasks by means of offering regular thematic classes. It also organizes outdoor events (Września Days, Września Name Day).
In addition, we have the Public Library with six branches, Pedagogical Library, Regional Museum and Wrzesnia Children Fund, Community Music Center, Cinema "Trojka". There are 14 Rural Community Centers and a few Associations operating in the area. We also have leisure facilities, such as the Municipal Stadium with full-size football pitch, four tennis courts or "ŁAZIENKI" swimming pool with two swimming sections, a slide and a skating rink. We are also proud of our Aqua World CENOS with indoor swimming pool and the Sports Hall of Gymnasium no. 2 with full-size volleyball, basketball and handball courts and a spectator seating capacity of 500 people.
- We can certainly regard Września as a municipality that is open to the world. It has contacts with partners from both the West and the East of Europe. What is this cooperation mainly concerned with?
- For eleven years, we have been maintained contacts with Garbsen in Germany and Nottingham County in Great Britain, we also continue our cooperation with the Wilno region in Lithuania and the Ramso municipality in Denmark. It is also possible that we will soon sign a partnership agreement with the town of Bruz in Brittany, France.
Partnership contacts mainly involve education, culture and sport, they also cover contacts between businessmen and also voluntary fire brigades.
- What undertakings will be realized in the near future, which of them do you personally hold to be most important for the Municipality and its residents?
- The share of our own investments in the municipality's expenses in the past years is as follows: 12.6% in 2000, 13.0% in 2001. In the current year, there is capital expenditure planned in the amount of 15.5%. The major completed tasks include the rebuilding and modernization of the municipal swimming pool, development of the sewage system at the detached housing estates: Sławno, Lipówka and Sokołowskie, as well as the modernization of Słowackiego street. In the draft strategy of Września Town and Municipality development for 2002-2016, there are plans involving the construction of sanitary and rain sewage systems in areas on Wrzesnia's outskirts, expansion of sewage systems in adjacent areas, construction of local biological treatment plants, building and modernization of roads and car parks, as well as developing a network of cycling routes. Utilities will be supplied to new areas earmarked for construction. New social apartments will be built. Also planned, is the development of the Social Housing Association, gasification of the town and a new primary school in Kaczanów. It is, actually, impossible to name all the undertakings. What is important, we are not short on enthusiasm.
- Thank you for the interview and good luck.
