TRZEBIATÓW -
the Sunny Seaside
|
|
|
|
|
The Trzebiatów Municipality,
225 km˛ in area, is located in the north of the
Zachodniopomorskie province. Its main towns are
Trze- biatów, with a population of 10,000, which
is the seat of local authorities, and Mrzeżyno
located in the estuary of the Rega River. The
natural and anthropogenic values of Trzebia-tów
and its surroundings make the region especially
appealing to tourists, the main attraction being
its location on the Baltic seaside.
Mrzeżyno, one of the 20 most popular watering
places in Poland, is the main resort in the municipality,
but Trzebiatów, a town with a long recorded history
that is primarily an administrative center and
a commercial and service base for visitors, is
just as attractive to tourists as resorts with
direct access to the sea. The Rega River, which
empties into the Baltic and is the longest river
in the northern Poland, comprises another asset
of the region. Its clear water is abundant in
fish, especially in sea trout, and allows visitors
to enjoy various forms of tourism. Canoe trips
and angling competitions with participants from
all-over the country have been organized on the
river for many years. The pine forest along the
coastline, with its well-preserved concentrations
of rare plants and breeding grounds for rare animal
species, including the sea eagle and common European
pond turtle, offers an interesting alternative
to crowded beaches or busy towns. The former military
area, accessible for the last two years, located
between the sea and Resko Przymorskie Lake is
especially attractive. The air here is rich in
sodium and iodine, and the considerably high water
temperature in this section of the sea due to
currents and the Rega estuary produce perfect
conditions for resting in the region.

Trzebiatów can add its anthropogenic values
to the above-mentioned natural ones, which makes
the attractiveness of the region complete. The
town, founded over 725 years ago, has preserved
its medieval town plan and can boast of many historical
and art monuments, including the 14th-century
Church of the Holy Maternity, which is one of
the highest in Pomerania and has a terrace with
an extensive view on top of its main tower, the
Town Hall, the well-preserved fortifications with
the Kaszana Keep, the palace, which was formerly
the Wirtemberg dukes family seat, and many others.
The strategy for the development of tourist product
in the municipality, worked out in cooperation
with the Polish Tourism Development Agency, concentrates
on family tourism, activities in the open air
and historical attractions. The tourist sector
has also been adjusted to meet the needs of the
disabled and to enable organized groups of children
to have their green (outdoor) school destinations
in the region. New products have been developed
regularly in order to meet the requirements of
exacting tourists. The number of outdoor events
has also increased, currently amounting to over
a dozen. Moreover, there are plans to rebuild
the harbor in Mrzeżyno and adapt it for use by
yachts.
As far as accommodation is concerned, over 7,000
tourists can be served in its leisure centers,
guesthouses, private houses and campsites. Thus,
if you are interested in an attractive family
vacation at the sunny seaside, visit Trzebiatów.
Sławomir Ruszkowski,
the Mayor of Trzebiatów Town and Municipality
