may obtain public assistance of 50% of capital
investment - if they operate for at least five
years (65% in the case of small and medium-sized
companies), as well as public assistance on account
of creation of new job places, which must be maintained
during the period of at least five years in the
amount of 50% of the value of labour costs of
newly employed incurred during two years (65%

- Kamiennogórska Valley is famous for its
beauty. Why is it an attractive place for settling
and visiting?
- Kamiennogórska Valley is the third largest and
the highest located picturesque valley on the
Western and Central Sudety Mountains borderland.
Thanks to its rich history the Kamienna Góra district
can offer an abundance of attractions to contemporary
visitors. During a stay in Kamienna Góra it is
worth sparing a while to visit among other monuments
of culture the Gothic and Renaissance St. Peter
and Paul's Church from the turn of the 13th and
14th centuries and the Baroque post-evangelist
Rosary's Marian Church or the Museum of Lower
Silesian Weaving, which has extensive historic
and ethnographic collections related to the City
and the Region. The rectangular outline of the
Old Market Square (Wolności Square) is marked
with Reneissance and Baroque historic tenants'
houses dating back to the 17th and the 18th century.
Owing to the location of Kamienna Góra, active
leisure pursuits may take a variety of forms here.
The mountain ranges surrounding the City provide
perfect encouragement for tourists to go hiking
during any season of the year. Following the numerous
tourist routes that cut across the City visitors
may reach wonderful beauty points, nature reserves,
landscape parks, and mountain hostels. Local settlements,
villages, forest paths and routes located in exceptionally
picturesque areas are perfect to go on a bike
ride, cross-country races, as well as cross-country
skiing in winter. Our extensive offer for visitors
includes hotels, private lodgings, and agri-tourism
farms still increasing in number, providing a
wide selection of accommodation and restaurant
services.

- One of the City's problems that you are
planning to remedy soon is the issue of waterworks
and sewage system in the City. At what stage are
the works in progress?
- No doubt, one of the most significant projects
executed during this year in our City was the
preparation of the Feasibility Study and the Evaluation
of Environmental Impact necessary to obtain subsidies
for the investment that will solve the water and
sewage system problems in Kamiennogórska Valley.
It is a motion put forward to the European Union's
Cohesion Fund. At the moment we are working on
preparation of decision on localization of public
target investment in modernization of waste water
treatment plant.
- A meeting of partner cities will be held
In June (9th - 13th) in Kamienna Góra. How the
City will manage to cover related expenses and
what benefits do you expect to gain in relation
with the event?
- The primary aim of the meeting of partner cities
organized with the help of substantial financial
support of the Town-twinning programme is maintenance
and further development of mutual relations between
Kamienna Góra and its partner cities. Among our
guests will be the representatives of Wolfenüttel
(Germany), Vierzon (France), Ikast (Denmark),
Trutnova (Czech Republic), and Ivangorod (Russia).
The purpose of the meeting is to enable exchange
of experience within the scope of education, development
of entrepreneurship and environment protection,
as well as advancement of knowledge on the European
Union and on obtaining its funds. Discussions
will be held on stimulation of local economy,
as well as on possibilities for starting co-operation
available to social and business organizations.
